- 6.48 miles
- 7:24/mile pace
- 1939
- From/To Home
- Felt good and ran by one of IronChad's houses...it wasn't on fire or anything, so I guess that fact isn't so exciting. Anyway, this was my first run in my new $39 pair of New Balance running shoes...I like them...and not just because they look just like Case's shoes, which is exactly why I chose them.

Day 357
Monday, September 24, 2012
Day 354
- 5 miles
- 8:20/mile pace
- 0600
- From/To Home
- Slow run around the block...almost zero people out, which was strange as I wasn't up especially early. Need new shoes, amazing that I couldn't or didn't get to it this past weekend....

Day 349
- 3.94 miles
- 7:53/mile pace
- 0635
- To/From Home
- Had plenty of time to get in the longer run I had planned (not that I'm following a plan, I'm not), but then I started working and well, when I only had roughly 30 minutes left above is all I ended up getting in -- had I wanted to run faster I suppose I could've increased the milage some anyway...problem is that once I've compromised from my original intention I seem to mail it in, which could also explain some of the lethargy of the past 2 months.
- Need new shoes, based on milage and how my legs feel, may buy some tonight, we'll see.

Day 274
- 8.77 miles
- 6:51/mile pace
- 1635
- Arrowhead CC
- Well, I take back my boastful comments about surely being able to figure out how to use the Garmin 405 on still very appreciated loan from the Rosenlof's -- I haven't been able to figure it out at all yet, so I went to the gym. As usual, maintaining a sexier than usual looking pace on the treadmill was not nearly as hard as real running, so above figures are to be taken with that knowledge, but overall I'm still happy with the run. 10 minute warm up at around 8:10/mile pace, then dropped it down to around 6:40 for 40 minutes and then did a semi-cool down at 7 somethin pace.
- This was my first run in my new shoes, which are about a billion times more comfortable and seemingly faster, but then, that could have to do with the fact that I ran in the afternoon when I always find running to be much easier than pre-sunlight. I do think the shoes made it more comfortable though, which means I should probably switch out my shoes at maybe 325 miles instead of 350 miles...or perhaps I should just go down to 300 miles?
- This reminds me of my Dad's answer to what size waist he has with relation to buying pants..."I wear 34's, but 36's fit so well, I buy 38's." -- Jim Wein

Day 110
- 2.87 miles
- 8:31/mile pace
- 1910
- From/To home
- Just a streak extender, but felt really good in the new shoes, definitely think the old ones were beating up my legs -- actually rained slightly while I was running tonight, very strange.

Day 108
- 13 miles
- 8:37/mile
- 0715
- From/To Home
- Got a sitter (Lauren) so Bec and I could run together, didn't feel very good/strong/spry, but managed to get the mileage in, inclusive of 1 mile of hills (over 59th, then in Thunderbird Park off road). Think maybe overall mileage caught up to me a bit as this shouldn't have been as hard as it was, but done now, streak goes on. (Also have been running in super-old shoes, so retired those after this run and bought some new Brooks today, first run with them should be tomorrow)

Day 106
- 8 miles
- 8:27/mile pace
- 0630
- From/To Home
- Slow pace is still slower than I'd like for it to be, but it is faster than previous and the miles are adding up, so overall happy with it. Didn't sleep much last night as I was worried about work stupidity, but hopefully things will settle soon etc. Need new shoes.

Day 14
- 5 miles
- 8:50/mi pace
- 5:25am
- From/To Home
- Well, the shoes I ordered did come in and right on the day they were supposed too...but they're ALL BLACK. Yeah. Probably the ONLY color scheme I won't tolerate, except that, yeah, I opened them and ran in them this morning. I honestly do hate the look of them, but I needed new shoes and almost immediately I was happy I hadn't sent them back to await the white/blue/gray color combo I had ordered because my knees felt significantly better with every foot strike (more runner dork speak, not doing well with this, could be a problem). Anyway, nothing special about the run, again promised myself not to pick up the pace until Thanksgiving...not sure why really because I imagine I can pick up the pace now and not injury myself, but I'm going with that thought for now -- perhaps it is a patience test I'm giving myself. I am getting over the cold or sinus infection or whatever, so hopefully I'll feel 100% soon, though the night with Mr. Finn (Becca says maybe it's a growth spurt?) may delay me feeling fully recovered a bit as I was up at 2am and again at 4, without any real belief that I fell asleep between them. Anyway, "The Streak" goes on! 2 weeks, a milestone I guess.

Day 13
- 3.1 miles
- Slow
- 5:50am
- From/To Home (roundtrip to walking bridge over 101)
- Feeling better today though still a bit congested -- when hearing that my teeth hurt yesterday a friend diagnosed that I may have a sinus infection, since that moment it has seemed as such. That stated, I did feel much better today and had no difficulty extending "The Streak" today. (Unassociated but noteworthy, Finn slept in his own room for the first time last night, which may be another reason why I feel better today. Somewhat associated, I believe my new shoes, ordered on-line, a first for me, should arrive today...man, I think that sentence just confirmed that I'm leaning towards runner dork tendancies....have to keep an eye on that to see how it plays out)
