Day 194
- 2.45 miles
- 7:55/mile pace
- 0710
- From/To home
- Mentally taxing as a result of yesterday's effort, but not any more difficult than it would appear I guess. Streak extenders have their own special feel that often times could be mistaken for minor pain.

Day 191
- 4.23 miles
- 8:07/mile pace
- 0534
- From/To Home
- Had time so went a bit further than I usually do on Friday, but did so at such a relaxed pace that the run was not difficult -- wondering what, if any, benefit there is from "extra" mileage if/when it is basically lazily accomplished.

Day 190
- 8.29 miles
- 8:06/mile pace
- 0531
- From/to home inclusive of one Thunderbird Park lap
- Wasn't as tired this morning, though my legs weren't spinning with any speed, so to speak. Felt OK I guess, though had to stop for a bathroom break, which I never like to have to do. Anyway, glad I got in a little hill running and think the overall mileage for a work-week day is pretty good, but still not an impressive effort, so perhaps I am just fatigued? I did think about the fact that if I feel like I felt this morning...just slow and tired...I would probably fail in my effort to complete the 2012 LMI course in under an hour three weeks and 2-3 days from now as is my hope, but I guess I won't worry about that right now, just have to keep training. I feel fine, the streak goes on.

Day 187
- 3.1 miles
- 7:58/mile pace
- 0538
- From/To home
- Legs felt tired from yesterdays hilly effort, but lungs felt fine so this run was pretty easy. Definitely feeling better during short streak extenders than I was 5 months ago.

Day 183
- 6.26 miles
- 7:36/mile
- 0625
- From/To home
- Nearing what I consider irrefutably the half year mark...technically I guess 183 days exceeds half of 365 days, but as I tend to think in terms of months, I have been thinking that I can't really consider it 6 months until the streak reaches 186 days, on the impossible chance that the six consecutive months are all 31 day months...yeah, running every morning makes you think in weird ways. Anyway, getting there. This was just an easy run out and then a negative split return -- hmmm...runner speak, have to try to nip that in the bud again.

Day 178
- 3.08 miles
- Medium pace (didn't wear watch)
- 2130
- From/To home
- Becca gets credit for extending the streak to 178 days -- she woke me up from Case's bed where I had fallen asleep after reading him 3 short books. I'd have been pretty upset with myself if the streak would've ended so uneventfully. I am concerned about some very slight cold like symptoms, but that's nothing new to me...I wonder if this streak has made me even more paranoid of illness?

Day 177
- 3.15 miles
- 7:38/mile pace
- 0600
- From/To home
- Ran a little faster and a little further than I intended, which is pretty dumb. I set out to just do a streak extender run because I have a grand plan to run off road in Thunderbird Park tomorrow for significant milage, which I've decided is over 5 miles considering the hills I'm planning to run, but I decided after I was a little warmed up I'd just go a little further. Shouldn't have any affect on tomorrow's run, except that it may allow me to justify running shorter or slower...we'll see.

Day 176
- 5 miles
- 8:17/mile pace
- 0607
- From/To home
- Started out with intention to run very slow and not very far. I successfully achieved my goal! Had minor G.I. stress, but not bad enough to require a stop or anything specific. This run, like nearly all my runs, had an elevation change of less than 10 feet probably...really gotta get into the hills soon...and yes, you will keep seeing me write that until I convince myself to actually do it -- it's a process :).

Day 171
- 1.7 miles
- Slow
- 1720
- From/To home
- Let the day get away from me and then upon realizing Becca has a wine tasting party tonight I had to wedge in what I could while boys took a bath...perhaps this will serve as tapering for tomorrow's big race! Maybe that was my plan all along? Nah, I'm not that smart.
- Separate, unassociated, but noteworthy to me: Case played his first soccer game today...he took one to the face that rocked him for a while, but went back in eventually and surprising even scored a goal. Overall he seemed to have fun, though the shot to the cheek was a setback. (For the record he is 0-1 as the team lost 8-6)

Day 165
- 3 miles
- 7:50/mile pace
- 2258
- Treadmill Holiday Inn Express, Baltimore, MD
- Hardest run in quite a while, guess the day just wore on me even though I didn't do much other than sit on various airplanes and deal with delays etc. -- well, I guess I did a significant amount of worrying about the presentation I was working on, but hard to think that's anyone elses fault :). Anyway, as I was lost (f'n google maps) driving around looking for the hotel I seriously thought that to continue the streak I may have to stop, put on running shoes, run for 1.2 miles, then resume my vulture method of finding the hotel, but then I found it so I really had an hour to spare to get the run in. The streak goes on...

Day 164
- 2.29 miles
- Slow
- 1115
- From/To Utopia park the home
- Satisfied the 2k minimum streak extender running 1.46 to the park, then played for an hourish, then home from there. I've stated before that the wind is an issue when pushing the boys in the Burley stroller...this fact was especially evident today as it was/is a windy day. Odd note for today, all three Wein boys changed cloths multiple times, but always managed to wear something green in honor of the Americanised St. Patrick's day traditions...for my run I wore a shirt that I've owned for over 20 years, perhaps I should blog about shirt streaks I have, what would you think about that Laura? :)

Day 155
- 2.07 miles
- 8 mins/mile
- 0630
- From/To Home
- Felt fine, would've run more if I wasn't so jacked up about potential emails -- work is stressful these days, but whatever, I still like it I guess. Still dealing with fear of potential sore throat...yeah, I'm retarded.

Day 144
- 2.59 miles
- 6:30/mi pace
- 1910
- From/To Home
- I always run faster at the end of the day and today I guess I felt OK because that's the fastest pace I've run in a quite a while -- could also be all the tapering, no matter how unintentional it may have been. Didn't feel hard, but then, when it does it is never as fast as it felt it should have been. Off traveling again tonight, if I make it through March 5 with this streak then I should really have no excuses after that. We shall see.

Day 143
- 1.7 miles
- Slow
- 1215
- From/To Home
- I was a wreck this morning, I slept for about 10 hours last night, woke up for 2, then back to sleep for a few more...this is all I could muster mentally prior to starting, so I procrastinated until I only had time to do about this much -- of course once I got out there I felt fine and could've done a real run of some distance, but whatever, maybe tomorrow.
Friday, February 24, 2012
Day 142
- 2.05 miles
- Slow
- 1800
- From/To HOME
- Felt pretty good after 24 hours of traveling, but would not have run if not for the streak. I will probably handle time change better as a result of the short run and stretch, so, another feather in the cap of 'The Streak."

Day 138
- 1.7 miles
- 8 min/mi (estimate)
- 0540
- From/To home
- Wore my raquet sports shoes since I had already packed my running shoes, this resulted in my decision to run shorter than the short run I had originally planned because I didn't want to come up with some sort of odd injury from running in non-running shoes (guess I'm not ready for Five Fingers, huh?)...anyway, that was for the best as I barely made it out of the house on my predetermined schedule anyway. The streak will now be challenged a bit by travel, but there is no reason for it to stop that I can foresee at this point. We shall see.
Saturday, February 18, 2012
Day 136
- 2.7 miles
- Medium (no watch)
- 1215
- From/To home
- Didn't feel like getting up this morning, thought I was going to do some sort of long run, perhaps I will tomorrow, today just felt got a few miles in to extend the streak and get warmed up enough to stretch well. Felt good, thought about how I rarely have minor pains now, whereas months ago I wasn't sure I was ever going to get past those things. Wonder if I'll deal with them again when I speed up a bit...wonder when I will see.

Day 129
- 21.14
- 8:23/mi pace
- 0710
- From/To home
- Ran with Bec, final 20 miler before here March 4 marathon in MSY -- I made her run an extra mile because I don't believe in the insane idea that one should only run a max of 20 miles in any one run prior to a marathon, how does that make any sense? I did tell her that we'd be doing an extra mile before we started, so I didn't trick her because I'd rather not risk divorce. The run went well, basically just cruised and got in a few hills for good measure -- considering the effort the pace surprised me a bit and has me thinking that perhaps Bec can set 3:35 as a goal for her marathon...hmmm, have to think about this a bit more. Think I like "Shot Blocks" now, though they are still weird initially they do seem to result in a rather even energy supply if taken properly (which for me I've decided = every 45 minutes of a long run at cruise pace).
- Also noticed while reviewing running streak posts from the initial months that when I'm out of shape I whine (or would that be Wein?) a lot more...I do feel much better structurally when running now though, which I'm glad about.
