Do runners ever intentionally bonk as part of their training? In cycling it's common practice and serves to increase one's ability to burn fat as a viable source of energy--rather than relying on sugars alone. Though, the usual way to bring about an intentional bonk is to ride a few hours in the morning before eating breakfast.
ReplyDeleteWow, I have never heard of such a thing, though I cannot be surprised the cyclists would do such a thing -- I truly believe they're are the most extreme of all athletic performance extremists...just so many things to obcess about I guess (bike, gear, body, course, red blood cell count etc. etc.). Anyway, no, I have never heard of runners decidting to intentionally bonk, but then, I think of myself as being someone who runs as opposed to being a "runner." Perhaps they do?
