  • This run improved my confidence as the pace was better than expected and I survived it.   Pace is a bit skewed as mile 18 was at 7:25/mi. pace, which was also pleasantly surprising just to feel like doing that...I think that is the first sub 8 minute mile I've logged in 2 or 3 years.

Stepping down from a high volume effort previous week I hoped this would feel relatively easy...it did at first, but when finished I recognized a toenail issue that caused pain the rest of the day and I was overall wiped out -- hope to recover quickly as I'm already worried about this weekends long run of 16 miles.

Intended to run hills, but as it turns out the specific hill I was thinking of repeating was far enough away that I only ran it once...I did find some other hills by taking an alternate route home, but kind of a failure in executing my game plan.  Related, I found out yesterday that the plan I have been semi-following only has one 20 mile run scheduled prior to the marathon....this is concerning as it doesn't seem enough to me, but well, it also doesn't look like I'll have enough time to adjust it in any significant way, so I guess I'm on course to see just how bad it hurts to attempt a marathon ill prepared.

Have strayed a bit from my routine, but maybe I'll settle back in if I ever stop doing the most fun things in the world:   Vacationing with the family, going to The Masters, going to Auburn's A-day game, etc.

The long run hammered me to the point that I had shortness of breath for the next 3 days and I'm already worried about my next long run which I intend to tackle this weekend...on a positive note, I signed up for the 6/11/16 marathon and am looking forward to it, as ill advised as that seems physically.
