Day 118

  • 5 miles
    • 8:49/mile pace
    • 0625
    • From/to home
  • Very easy pace, but didn't feel as easy as 8:49 should -- legs felt better today, though still a little sore.   Rolled I.T. band today and think that I now have to incorporate that regularly as I am, per Becca, old.   Thinking I simply have to break 3 hours in Tucson before it's too late.   So much training to do.

Day 117

  • 1.87 miles
    • Slow
    • 1900
    • From/To Home
  • Felt very creaky, hip pointer type feeling on left side -- downhill running from Sunday shredded my legs/thighs, Becca handled it much better and thinks it's an age thing...think she may be right.

Monday, January 30, 2012

Day 116

  • 20.07 miles
    • 8:33/mile pace
    • 0720
    • From Sherry's house, West on Bell until it turned into some Parkway, went around some of the White Tank (Tawk) Mountains and return same out and back route.
  • Uphill going out, downhill returning...the downhills beat me up pretty good, need to do more downhill running.   Case and Finn stayed with Sherry :).   First time I have done a 20 miler in over a year, wasn't that horrible, though I clearly need to get more under my belt.   Thinking a lot about signing up for a marathon now...perhaps the Tucson Marathon in December as it is fast/downhill etc.

Saturday, January 28, 2012

Day 115

  • 2 miles
    • Slow
    • 1400
    • From/To home
  • Just a streak extender, took it extra easy as I'm concerned about tomorrow's 20 miler...super warm today, maybe 80 degrees...in January.

Friday, January 27, 2012

Day 114

  • 2.79
    • 8:15/mile pace
    • 0750
    • From/To home
  • Extremes last night, from great sleep to being woken up by the cats our retarded neighbor feeds.  Just a cruise run this morning to extend the streak.

Thursday, January 26, 2012

Day 113

  • 5 miles
    • 8:40/mi pace
    • 0630
    • From/To home
  • Went out slow intentionally, but am a bit concerned that my "cruise pace" is as slow as it is...believe it was 8:10ish at one point and would like to see it get back to that, but since I'm not motivated to do any speed work it may not get back there for a while I guess.   Anyway, miles keep accumlating, which has to be a good thing I think.   Staying on Becca's marathon plan...20 miler coming up, which, of course, is concerning.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Day 112

  • 5.85 miles
    • 7:11/mile pace
    • 0711
    • From/To Home
  • Felt good this morning, felt really bad when I first woke up, legs felt dead, fatigued etc., I couldn't rouse my head awake, but since Finn was up and Bec needed a little more time I got up and as a result by the time I started running I had been awake for 2 hours, which probably helped the most.  Plus I had a good B.M., which is always helpful.   That stated, I knew I was probably running a bit faster than yesterday, but after checking the distance and time I am surprised to see how much faster...as originally stated, I felt good this morning, I guess.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Day 111

  • 5.12 miles
    • 8:16/mile pace
    • 0630
    • From/To home
  • Just don't have the wheels right now, not sure if it was too much stretching last night?  (rolled IT band)  I need to run fast tomorrow, we'll see how that goes...today wasn't bad, just wasn't really feeling it.  Becca ran like the wind again -- 8 minute miles, she's a freak.

Monday, January 23, 2012

Day 110

  • 2.87 miles
    • 8:31/mile pace
    • 1910
    • From/To home
  • Just a streak extender, but felt really good in the new shoes, definitely think the old ones were beating up my legs -- actually rained slightly while I was running tonight, very strange.

Sunday, January 22, 2012

Day 109

  • 2.4 miles (estimated)
    • Slow
    • 1700
    • From/To Home x 2
  • Ran with Case to Case's park as he rode his bike...estimate that round trip of actual running was 1.2 miles (???), so upon return did another 1.2 consequtively to make sure I did my 2k for the day.   Had some discomfort in my right I.T. band yesterday after the 13 miler and this morning, but seems to feel better after post run stretch today...take that as proof that I should have stretched better yesterday (had to cut short to make the "Itty bitty Open," with Case).

Saturday, January 21, 2012

Day 108

  • 13 miles
    • 8:37/mile
    • 0715
    • From/To Home
  • Got a sitter (Lauren) so Bec and I could run together, didn't feel very good/strong/spry, but managed to get the mileage in, inclusive of 1 mile of hills (over 59th, then in Thunderbird Park off road).   Think maybe overall mileage caught up to me a bit as this shouldn't have been as hard as it was, but done now, streak goes on.  (Also have been running in super-old shoes, so retired those after this run and bought some new Brooks today, first run with them should be tomorrow)

Friday, January 20, 2012

Day 107

  • 2 miles
    • Slow
    • 0620
    • From/To Home
  • Just a streak extender, made sure to not speed up, though I felt like doing it...trying to make sure I didn't over do it since tomorrow is long run day.   Feel pretty good.

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Day 106

  • 8 miles
    • 8:27/mile pace
    • 0630
    • From/To Home
  • Slow pace is still slower than I'd like for it to be, but it is faster than previous and the miles are adding up, so overall happy with it.   Didn't sleep much last night as I was worried about work stupidity, but hopefully things will settle soon etc.   Need new shoes.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Day 105

  • 5 miles
    • 7:08/mi pace
    • 0745
    • From/To Home
  • Ran hard this morning, hardest I've run during this latest comeback -- happy with the pace, though had to run last mile in 6:40, which I'm pleased with, but does mean that the average up tempo pace other than that mile was close to the 7:20+ range...feel like I may be getting there though, which is good.   Probably fastest I've done that particular 5 mile loop (to Utopia, to 67th, to Union Hills, to 75th, to Beardsley, to 67th, home via Utopia/68th), which is both good and bad.   Went to bed at 7:30pm though, which is an indicator that I was pretty tired and or sick -- feel better today though, had some body aches a little last night, but not like a flu, more like lingering effect from the Tough Mudder, which is shameful considering it was 3+ days ago.   Anyway, was supposed to do 8 miles today, per Bec's training schedule, but just ran out of time to get it in...perhaps I'll do 8 tomorrow, when I was scheduled to do 5, we shall see.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Day 104

  • 5 miles
    • Slow
    • 0625
    • From/To Home
  • Very slow, legs didn't feel great -- still think it's the shoes mostly -- but also had G.I. issues that made me go extremely slow, definitely slower than 9 min/mile.   Did the mileage prescribed on Bec's marathon training guide, so at least did that.   Stomach still a bit jacked, but no big deal...fearing a cold as Case is under the weather and I'm feeling it a bit too...fingers crossed.

Day 103

  • 2.65 miles
    • 8:45/mile pace
    • 2059
    • From/To Home
  • Felt bad most of the day, the diner food after Train Park experience with Peterson boys did not help, nor did the Sapporo for dinner prior to this run, but The Streak goes on.   Legs hurt again, believe it is fatigue and the shoes, need to buy new shoes.

Day 102

  • 3.1 miles
    • Slow
    • 1330
    • From/to home
  • Felt OK, as if I could run for a while, even though I was quite sore from yesterdays Tough Mudder challenge.   Ran in very old shoes with far to many miles on them, think this contributed to soreness of legs.

Day 101

  • 12.25 miles
    • Slow -- 10 minute pace
    • 0900
    • Middle of no-where-AZ
  • Tough Mudder challenge.   Really a lot cooler than I thought it would be...not a race at all, which was weird to me, but a significant challenge for sure...not crazy about the electric shock section at all and could definitely have used more strength training prior, but the running part wasn't bad at all as I just took it easy and still managed to outpace most.  Very much the "Cross-fit" crowd, with far too many "hoo-rah's" being shouted for my taste, but fun none-the-less.   Hope to do it again next year with a friend or two, perhaps Johnny, or Becca, but we shall see.   (Shoulders, triceps and quads felt most sore afterwards -- also bottom portion of my leges were significantly knicked up, but nothing to worry about...except those freakin shocks, geez)  Glad that my feet didn't get ruined as a result of running in wet shoes for 11+ miles.

Friday, January 13, 2012

Day 100

  • 2.1 miles
    • Slowish
    • 0730
    • From/To Home
  • Felt good this morning, coldish, but felt like a good morning to run long -- didn't want to as I am psuedo tapering for tomorrow's Tough Mudder, which I am not ready for and not motivated about, but should still be interesting experience.   Glad to make 100, next goal is 200 I guess?  Geez, seems these milestones get further apart as they go....after 200 is 1 year I guess, then maybe 500 days, which is a bit shorter distance from 365, but after 500 comes 2 years, then 1000?   Getting way ahead of myself, will still be surprised if I make 1 year, but I guess we'll see...I am a little surprised I made 100.   Feeling good though and Becca said I am a better person when working out, so I guess I must continue :).    Hmmm, what else, guess I'll email David Ross now.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Day 99

  • 4.6 miles
    • Slow
    • 0650
    • From/To Home
  • Have sniffles, concerned it could be beginning of headcold...hope it isn't, thinking it could just be fatigue.  Just didn't push it at all, believe pace was 8:30-9/mile, but didn't wear a watch.   Next milestone tomorrow, so hopefully I live that long and have good health.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Day 98

  • 8.4 miles
    • 8:32/mi pace
    • 0615
    • From/To home
  • Just a cruise run, felt good, but didn't feel like breathing hard so held off speeding up until perhaps 2 miles to go -- at that point it felt pretty good to speed up, so probably averaged around 8:10 pace maybe?  Starting to feel the affects of the increased mileage in areas such as my scrotum, which is a bit raw from the boxer rubbing it -- I've had this problem before, so nothing too concerning, but not at all ideal, of course.
  • Case woke up as I was putting on my shoes, so I set him up with his "screen" (Kindle Fire) to play games, put Mickey Mouse Club cartoons on TV and gave him a banana -- dude was exactly where I left him upon my return 70+ minutes later.   Surprisingly Becca and Finn were still asleep, which was cool all around.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Day 97

  • 4.2 miles
    • 7:21/mile
    • 0721
    • From/To home
  • Ran hard, didn't feel fast, but happy with the average pace -- got to breathing hardish on final mile, as intended.   30:51 total time.  Didn't stretch as well as I like to after, but hopefully that won't be a problem.

Monday, January 9, 2012

Day 96

  • 2.89 miles
    • 8:33/mile pace
    • 0725
    • From/To home
  • Felt like I was running faster than 8:30 pace, but guess the tight feeling I had in hips (left hip especially) was more determental to smooth running than I thought.  Rolled I.T. band last night, may make a habit out of that simply as a precaution -- definitely didn't feel as flexible this morning, even after the run, as usual.  Tired.

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Day 95

  • 17.13 miles
    • 8:30/mile pace
    • 0803
    • From/To Home
  • Sherry came over to sit for the boys so that Bec and I could get in a run together -- it went pretty well, but was super windy.   Right hip felt a little messed up for most of the run and overall didn't run real smoothly, but it wasn't too brutal.

Day 94

  • 2.2 miles
    • 9 minutes miles
    • 1210
    • From/To Home
  • Pushed Case in Burley, didn't feel real good as I woke up with sinus headache...first mile was about 9:07, which shocked me, but I guess pushing Case adds some time (Case seemed to enjoy it as he was playing with Hot Wheels cars and jabbering most of the time, which was fun).   The Streak goes on.

Friday, January 6, 2012

Day 93

  • 2 miles
    • 8:35/mile pace
    • 0610
    • From/To Home
  • Found out the 2 mile loop I've been doing is actually 1.9, so will have to increase that a bit as I did this time...have a slight headache today, perhaps congestion, fearing sinus issue.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Day 92

  • 4 miles
    • 7:30/mile pace
    • 0602
    • From/To Home
  • Picked up pace today, couldn't make myself breath real hard, so it seemed like an up tempo effort, but a harder effort than it has been for sure....just not ready to really make it hurt.  I don't have confidence yet that I can sustain it, even for a little while...getting there though.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Day 91

  • 8.33 miles
    • 8:31/mile pace
    • 0602
    • From/To Home
  • Started out sub 8:30, then slowed considerably as a result of need to use the bathroom...finally at about mile six I was able to get the bowels to pull back the trying to escape turd and then sped up to fend off the inevitable drop, which worked for almost the rest of the way.   Was fairly miserable during the middle of run, but felt good after.   Marathon plan has begun, though I'm not signed up for any marathon.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Day 90

  • 3.61 miles
    • 8:14/mile pace
    • 0715
    • From/To Home
  • Went out slow, perhaps 8:30 and then sped up for final 5 mins to try to get the overall average down, which is something I shouldn't yet care about, but, well....anyway, tomorrow I need to start actually following a plan, for simplicity sake I think I'll follow Bec's marathon plan since we've decided to do all the long runs together.   That means I have to do 8 freakin miles tomorrow...guess I'll have to start waking up early as I have intended to do for months.

Monday, January 2, 2012

Day 89

  • 1.7 miles
    • 8:15/mile
    • 1900
    • From/To Home
  • Put pizza in oven, had to make it back to take it out -- felt good actually and almost fleet, which is to say not quite fast, though I didn't push it to see....I just felt like I could have.

Sunday, January 1, 2012

Day 88

  • 10.61 miles
    • 8:05/mile pace
    • 1135
    • From/To home (through T-Bird park and over hill at 59th)
  • Ran hard, it was hard...hot day, felt like I was doing about 8:45 pace, but guess the return must've been faster than expected.  First time I've hurt like that in a while, must take water with me next time, and a gu etc.
