- 6.14 miles
- 7:38/mile pace
- 0635
- From/To home
- 30 minutes at 7:45 pace (as prescribed by Mr. McMillan), followed by 12 x 25 second fast efforts with 1 minute recoveries between each. Was tired before I stared, felt OK during and was tired after, feel fine now.
- I have run without a shirt on a few times in the past week in an effort to reduce laundry in need of cleaning...this seems to be ineffective. Whatever shirt I slept in is still in need of a wash, so taking it off to run is pointless, plus upon return sweat gets on many more things if it is still streaming down ones body rather than being contained by the shirt, even if the shirt is soaked. I guess I'll go back to running with a shirt on...yes, I'm sure those were boo's you heard from all the neighborhood ladies. Or I could sleep sans shirt, but I'll have to think about that.

Day 258
Saturday, June 9, 2012
Day 248
- 5.03 miles
- 7:46/mile pace
- 0615
- From/To home
- "Easy" run that felt harder than easy, but not hard. Off to Staycation we go!
- Only because it happened last night, the same day the earlier "tee-tee incident" happened, I will share this story:
- Just before dinner I announced that I needed to go to the bathroom and then we (Case and I -- Becca was upstairs trying to put Finn to sleep) we would sit down and eat dinner together. I walked to the bathroom and started to relieve myself...just then I hear Case start running my way followed by a loud and excited announcement that he would like to tee tee too. "We can go at the same time Daddy!" as he immediately arrives next to me, drops his pants and starts to pee before I can even start to say anything positive or negative....well, this was no big deal, but was pretty funny when he finished in less than 2 seconds, jumped up on the step he uses to get to the sink, wash his hands with half a pound of soap, pseudo dry them by high fiving the towel and running out turning off the light behind him then sprinting away cackling like a mental ward escapee. Can't decide if I want to hope for a continuation of Case related tee tee stories or not...that streak is at 2 days.

Day 237
- 7.1 miles
- 7:29/mile pace
- 0627
- From/To home
- 38 minutes at "easy" pace, which turned out to be 7:31/mile pace, followed by 11 x 20 seconds fast with 1 minute recovery between each. Pretty hard overall, but thankfully not devastating. Mid-week mileage definitely climbing now that I'm following a specific marathon prep plan.

Day 236
- 3.03 miles
- 8:16/mile pace
- 1057
- From/to home
- "Recovery" run. Woke up feeling like junk, believe it was due to dehydration -- felt decent by mid-morning so went for a late run, thankfully it was a very nice day. Anyway, this was easy and felt fine.

Day 233
- 2 miles
- Slow
- 0600
- From/To home
- I need to regain respect for the shortish "streak extender" runs prior to starting them...as soon as I take the first step I respect them again, but in a somewhat begrudged way because leading up to them I seem to regularly convince myself that they're nothing to be concerned about, no problem, easy stuff, not even gunna hurt, etc. -- all running is an effort, all. The streak goes on.

Day 232
- 6.72 miles
- 7:34/mile pace
- 0605
- From/To home
- Plan called for the following: 20 minutes easy, 10 minutes at 6:35/mile pace, 20 minutes easy. It played out as follows: 20 minutes and 20 seconds at 8:16/mile pace (a bit slower than the prescribed "easy" pace), 10 minutes at 6:27/mile pace (a bit faster than prescribed pace, but only because I'm not very good at pacing...yet), 20 minutes and 30 seconds at 7:35/mile pace. I guess that will suffice, overall it was tiring, but not too horribly so.
- I think I prefer the random workouts I make up, but I have no belief that they will be as beneficial in relation to my goals, so...on I go.

Day 227
- 2 miles
- Easy
- 0550
- From/To home
- I think I used to like that show 227, but I can't remember why...I guess it was a comedy, but I don't recall thinking it to be hilarious or anything, but I watched it when it was on. Hmmm...
- I used the roller to stretch my IT band today because my left knee has been a little tight the past few days...it has been quite a while since I've done that.

Day 220
- 1.7 miles
- Slow
- 1340
- From/To home
- Streak extender squeezed in before Case's last soccer game of the season.

Day 210
- 5 miles
- 8:05/mile pace
- 0630
- From/To home
- Still feeling very tired, to the point that I'm concerned about possibly having a cold. Really need to do a real run at some point, something with hills or speed, or both...or at least some distance, hmmm...I feel like I was doing quite well until my travels started up again last week proving once again that work is indeed bad for you.
Day 209
- 1.89 miles
- Slow
- 1950
- From/To home
- Really wasn't up for this one. That could be a result of many things, but perhaps most likely is the reduced sleep schedule I have been unfortunately on -- probably not helped by my little two for one running adventure a few nights ago...is that confirmation that it was kind of cheating? Was it? Does the world work that way? Am I trying to provoke a comment from JEC?

Day 205
- 2.7 miles
- Medium pace
- 2215
- Seaside, FL
- A streak extender and nothing else, though it was a nice enough short easy run...running after dinner as others are preparing for bed, when it is after your normal bedtime is just that.
- First run in new pair of shoes -- logged 430 miles in previous pair, which fell apart during the last week. New shoes seem a bit loose, but they were on sale so I will run at least 350 miles in them before moving on.

Day 194
- 2.45 miles
- 7:55/mile pace
- 0710
- From/To home
- Mentally taxing as a result of yesterday's effort, but not any more difficult than it would appear I guess. Streak extenders have their own special feel that often times could be mistaken for minor pain.
Friday, April 13, 2012
Day 191
- 4.23 miles
- 8:07/mile pace
- 0534
- From/To Home
- Had time so went a bit further than I usually do on Friday, but did so at such a relaxed pace that the run was not difficult -- wondering what, if any, benefit there is from "extra" mileage if/when it is basically lazily accomplished.

Day 190
- 8.29 miles
- 8:06/mile pace
- 0531
- From/to home inclusive of one Thunderbird Park lap
- Wasn't as tired this morning, though my legs weren't spinning with any speed, so to speak. Felt OK I guess, though had to stop for a bathroom break, which I never like to have to do. Anyway, glad I got in a little hill running and think the overall mileage for a work-week day is pretty good, but still not an impressive effort, so perhaps I am just fatigued? I did think about the fact that if I feel like I felt this morning...just slow and tired...I would probably fail in my effort to complete the 2012 LMI course in under an hour three weeks and 2-3 days from now as is my hope, but I guess I won't worry about that right now, just have to keep training. I feel fine, the streak goes on.
Monday, April 9, 2012
Day 187
- 3.1 miles
- 7:58/mile pace
- 0538
- From/To home
- Legs felt tired from yesterdays hilly effort, but lungs felt fine so this run was pretty easy. Definitely feeling better during short streak extenders than I was 5 months ago.

Sunday, April 8, 2012
Day 186
- 10.51 miles
- 8:42/mile pace
- 0905
- Thunderbird Park
- Pretty hard overall effort, though not much serious hard running during, if that makes sense. 3.5 lower hills loops and one summit, lots of people out on this Easter Sunday. Definitely past halfway to one year now :).

Day 178
- 3.08 miles
- Medium pace (didn't wear watch)
- 2130
- From/To home
- Becca gets credit for extending the streak to 178 days -- she woke me up from Case's bed where I had fallen asleep after reading him 3 short books. I'd have been pretty upset with myself if the streak would've ended so uneventfully. I am concerned about some very slight cold like symptoms, but that's nothing new to me...I wonder if this streak has made me even more paranoid of illness?
