  • Streak extender + 15

We went on Spring Break vacation to Arkansas starting Thursday of last week and returned Tuesday of this week -- the Central West and North West of AR, where we were, exceeded our expectations at every turn.  An amazingly beautiful area that is extremely underrated as an adventure wonderland.   Only wish we had been able to stay a few more days.   Oh and YES, the streak extended beyond 391 days, so a new blogged about streak record for me.  I'd pat myself on the back if I hadn't read earlier today that the Iran Hostage Crisis lasted for 444 days....geez.

Cumulative total:    36,247

Running:

Ran once during vacation.  Once.  I am pathetic and way undertrained for a marathon I'm about to sign up for in June.  Truly not sure if doing the marathon is even a good idea for me, but the company will be GREAT (The Rosenlof's) and that's always a better reason than the running part anyway.

Saturday I ran for 45 minutes and 34 seconds towards Jessieville from the RV park associated with this website:  http://colemanquartz.com/   I saw deer on the run and overall felt good about myself for 45 minutes, the rest of the trip was so over packed with various adventures neither Becca nor I got in any other planned exercise.   A somewhat shocking fact considering that even if it was assumed I did nothing it would be very rare.   Anyway, great trip, now have to get back on the training schedule...er...yeah, make one up to follow at least.

PUSH UP DAY 389

355 Push ups

  • Sets of:  25, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 35, 25, 30

Cumulative total:   35,452

Pretty pleased with today's effort considering that I was cycling the above push ups with pull ups and lunges...in 1 hour I completed 235 push ups, 99 pull ups and 250 lunges plus did 7 sets of ab rollers.   I think 300, 110, 300 seems like a reasonable next goal, leaving off the winding ab stuff.   Perhaps I'll try that in a month or so.   Also need to get back on the planking as I haven't done any in quite a while.

PUSH UP DAY 388

35 Push ups

  • Streak extender +10

Cumulative total:    35,097

NOTE:   Approaching a new blogged about streak record...the 2k everyday running lasted 391 days....hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Running:

  • 4.62 miles
  • 0615
  • 8:17/mi. pace

I think my minor health concerns over the weekend were allergy related.   They continue, but thinking they're allergy related rather than virus related makes it easier for me to get out the door for a run...I took it easy on the first half of this run and then picked it up a bit to return home.   Still not happy or comfortable about the fact that I missed a long run over the weekend, but I'll get over that.

Rained on me, which was fine and maybe even nice, but made me realize that I ran more in the ran last week than I did in the 7 years we lived in Phoenix total.

  • 10.77 miles
  • 0710
  • 8:38/mi
Dang Daylight Savings jacked up our whole morning, I was supposed to run before Becca went for an 8am bike ride, but I had 10 miles on the schedule and realized after waking up that it was 6:30, not 5:30 as my watch/alarm indicated, which meant I didn't have enough time to run 10 miles and be home by 7:30...yeah, I need to get faster.  A lot.   Another reason to miss Arizona too.  Becca actually decided to do other exercise, so I could have started at 6:30 anyway, but that was hard to do when not talking to Becca until 7.   Anyway this was my longest run in 2-3 years, so I guess I should be happy about that...and I felt pretty good.  I actually think Becca's watch gipped me of some mileage as I ran the alleged 10 minute mile section harder than many of the other miles -- I think it missed many of my sharp turns, oh well, we'll just assume it was a 31 mile effort at 5 minutes per mile then.   Here is part of the route I took, it's on Becca's Strava if greater level of detail is desired:

I was quite proud of myself...you may never guess that I failed handwriting in the 4th grade, but then, they never said I could write with my feet.

I believe I nearly worried myself sick....Case was throwing up yesterday, which concerned me so greatly that I was worried all day and woke up worried I too may catch it.  Not as sympathetic as a Father should come across I guess, but while I truly want him to get better and would do most anything to facilitate that, I might draw the line at sharing the illness with him....as long as it's not too serious.  Anyway, I took it easy on my run, which was rather nice, perhaps I should always run easy?   I intend to for the next few days anyway, but that's mostly for fear of not being properly trained to run 3 days in a row, which I plan to do because that's what's on my not yet written up self created training schedule -- Becca gets Monday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings, I get Tuesday and Friday mornings...we both have lofty goals to share the weekend days.

Related, literally, Finn is on the opposite end with relation to Case's illness....he wants so badly to be just like his brother that he insisted on getting in on the game despite no symptoms.   See Becca's sick ward below:

On the great news side, Case woke up feeling well today and miraculously so did Finny!

First 5k race for me in possibly 10 years?  Not much for intense pain I guess...anyway, this was Case's first ever 5k and he did very well....on no training he only took two short walk breaks totaling maybe one tenth of a mile combined and finished 3rd in his 0-9 age group, winning a 12 oz. glass, which made him quite happy.   Finn sat in the stroller for the 5k saving his legs for the 1200 meter "fun run," which he ran with his Mother...managed a solid hard run throughout and was the big winner regardless of any other related facts, they gave him a "Winner" ribbon and that was more than enough, but to be safe the event organizers had a giant banana split for everyone afterwards.

  • 8.77 Miles
  • 0500
  • 8:54 min/mi.
Longest run for me in over 2 years, wasn't as miserable as I feared.

PUSH UP DAY 366 & 367

50 Push ups

  • Back to back streak extenders, yesterday and today.

Just felt like letting the left shoulder heal one more day even though it doesn't feel that bad.   I did start a marathon training plan today, so I felt that was enough mental focus for this morning anyway.   Yes, I'll go ahead and bore you with running details now as well, but in an effort to maintain formatting I'll do so beneath the "Cumulative total" line following this paragraph and future posts:

Cumulative total:    31,825    [an additional note on this figure...since mid-summer last year I decided it was best to add 1 extra rep to every set just to make certain my cumulative total figure was an "at least" figure...yes, that is fairly weak on the accuracy scale, but it makes me feel better, so I thought I'd pass that along to my 5-ish readers....of which I only know for certain 2 identities -- maybe there is a way to see who is auto receiving?  Anyway, until I see comments I'll be content to just know the two, who I consider my 2 favorites naturally.]

RUNNING DAY 1 (not a streak!) of marathon plan culminating with a June 11 marathon if all goes well enough:

5.78 miles
  • 8:21/mi. pace
  • 0610
  • Houston, TX (near Memorial Park, but not in the park)
  • Training plan called for a Fartlek and or hills....no hills visible so I did some terrible 2's, but didn't make them that terrible.
NOTE:   I will attach my training plan once I transcribe it onto a calendar, just as FYI.
