PUSH UP DAYS 642-654

625 Push ups

  • December 7th, I did 325 push ups in sets of 25....every other day has been a streak extender day of at least 25 reps, sometimes I did 30+, but I can't remember which days, so therefore I'm not=]counting those additional reps.   Only noteworthy detail is that since the 7th I have been completing each streak extender effort semi-one-handed...not completely one-handed because I can't really do 1 handed push ups left handed.   Anyway, see below photo showing reason for this form alteration:

  • 225 in sets of 25
  • 75 in following sets:   15, 15, 15, 20, 10

Ran last night as well, short and slow, but can report that I like my new running shoes better than I liked my last pair.

PUSH UP DAYS 629-638

860 Push ups

  • 8 of the days were streak extenders, one of which was an in-airport effort with Finn sitting on my back :).   (Mobile airport to pick up Uncle Ben)
  • Wednesday Nov. 23 was 430 push ups in these sets: 10, 15: 15x24+25+10+20+15
  • Today was 230 push ups in sets of 25 with final 2 sets being 15 reps each

Having shoulder issues, probably because I failed to warm up on more than one occasion.

Cumulative total:   65,693

Running, I ran today, not far, not fast, but felt decent considering that I am getting over a cold.

In other news, I am up to date, within a week anyway (two trips over Thanksgiving weekend haven't been posted, but my practice of great delinquency has had the positive result of my personal justification that if I post within a month of a trip I'm not considering myself behind), with this blog:

I've run on an off for the past couple weeks, nothing inspiring....mental stress has much more of an affect on me physically than physical stress does, good news is that I think I'm on the other side of the stress cycle now so may soon be time to think of a new odd challenge.   We'll see!

PUSH UP DAY 577-581

869 Push ups

  • Streak extender
  • Streak extender + 25 in CHS airport and 25 in CLT airport
  • Streak extender
  • 719 in sets that looked like this:7, 6. 13, 23, 12, 5, 3, 11, 5, 11, 11, 2, 22, 11, 48, 7, 32, 25, 4, 6, 1, 18, 20, 5, 6, 7, 1, 2 ---------- 14, 1, 11, 6, 5, 2, 48, 9, 10, 2, 7, 36, 4, 35, 20, 25, 15, 2, 7, 5, 11, 39, 7, 1, 4, 7, 4, 2, 8, 5, 6, 4, 4, 2, 12, 5, 5, 3, 2.   Strange looking perhaps, but not so when understanding the method, which I'll explain now:   My beloved Auburn Tigers were playing football against a team that we basically paid to come in and give us a chance to work on our plays, while losing to us in such a manner that our fans would have fun etc.  Knowing this I decided to devise a game related workout for the day to multitask and get a good workout in.   Pre-game I assumed we (the Auburn team) would end up gaining between 400-600 yards total offense and give up roughly 10 first downs, so I decided to do 1 push up for every Auburn yard gained and 5 pull ups for every 1st down given up by our defense.   Then I decided that if we lost yardage on any offensive plays that I also needed to do some sort of exercise move to recognize that lousiness as well, so I decided I'd also do 1 burpee for each yard lost.   Well, Auburn played pretty well on offense and gave up more first downs than anticipated on defense, so the final result was:    719 Push ups, 70 pull ups, 25 burpees    Fairly taxing for me, but all much easier to tolerate when game ends in a 58-7 score for the good guys.

I ran today too, it's October, which being my birth-month, seems to motivate me to get back on the running horse each year...we'll see if it lasts this year, but good start this morning with maybe close to 3 miles at a leisurely pace -- more details as I get into it, assuming that I will.

Have just noticed that a month or 2 ago I lost almost HALF my readers!?!   Being exceptionally boring hasn't worked out for me as well as I'd have hoped.  My first thought is to aggressively pursue them and win their loyalty back, but since I never knew who they were to start with that is proving difficult.  Oh well, my total regular readership is still twice as many as I can name, so I've got that going for me...which is nice....

Shoulder started feeling a little better, still creaky, but have decided to just press on/up.

Running:

Ran just over 5 miles on Monday at a slow pace with intent to start running regularly again, still not sure why I stopped, but I guess I just do that sometimes.   Need a goal, but wary of setting one until I get back into running regularly, see the problem there?  Many have it, but I don't like being like the "many," so it is a bit bothersome.

Changing subjects somewhat drastically, check out Famous Finn at 1:15 mark on this link:

Dropped below 100/day, which is disappointing.   Have been hoping my left shoulder would just start feeling right again, but still feels a bit injured.  It does not hurt very much, but it isn't completely without pain-ish feeling either and I have been trying to be cautious so as not to truly injure myself.   The thought of not being able to play golf is truly bothersome.   However, since I don't know if it's actually injured (some sort of tear I'm thinking, caused by what I am not sure) I am debating just pushing it to see what happens, if it then becomes more painful I guess I'll go see a doctor?

Running:

I ran once...a few days ago.   3.45 miles in around 8 min/mi. pace.

Left shoulder has been bothering me, plus we went on vacation -- check out this video my friends 12 year old put together from the trip, showing us swimming with various creatures of the sea (we also swam with dolphins, learning after we were home that had we been caught we could have been fined $20k, sea turtles, etc. etc.).   Very cool trip to one of the greatest places in the country:

"I would do pushups for 500 days just to be the man who did pushups for 500 days"

Running:

I ran twice during the above time period, one fastish, one slowish, neither long.   Thinking about starting to run again, but we'll see.

I MISSED A SCHEDULED RUN OVER THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!   AHHHHHGGG?!!!   Yes, that concerns me.  It was a 1 hour run and I forgot to get Becca to leave the boys gym ID's and therefore couldn't go to gym from the pool and it just messed up my whole planning.   I'm concerned about it, though I probably shouldn't be, but maybe I should be...crap.

I got an older neighborhood kid, Joey Paragone, to play video games with the boys the next morning so I could at least get in the 2 hour run scheduled...it didn't feel that hard, probably because I didn't do the 1 hour run, but I still didn't go very fast....still wondering if I should push to get in an hour run somewhere.  If Becca were to miss a scheduled run I would emphatically and without question tell her to just forget about it, 1 run doesn't make or break the training schedule or fitness, but when it's me things are different.   Anyway, about that 2 hour run:

  • 0845
  • 14.56 miles
  • 8:19/mi. Pace
  • 2:01:08 total time
I felt like I was going faster than that.

Amazingly humid, standing out in that regard from all other days in Mobile, AL nearly all of which many would consider extremely humid.  Seriously, I was amazed.

Sunday
  • 0545
  • 14.03 miles
  • 8:37/mi. pace
Still quite humid and based on wetness of attire post run one may think it was as humid as yesterday, but I didn't think so...guess I could have expected it a bit more today, but whatever, glad to be done with a high mileage weekend and looking forward to the next.

4/23
  • 41 minutes, slow

4/24
  • 18.54 miles
  • 8:33/mi. pace
  • This run improved my confidence as the pace was better than expected and I survived it.   Pace is a bit skewed as mile 18 was at 7:25/mi. pace, which was also pleasantly surprising just to feel like doing that...I think that is the first sub 8 minute mile I've logged in 2 or 3 years.

4/26
  • 7:36 miles
  • 8:19/mi. pace
  • Hills, started run still feeling Sunday's long run, but this run went pretty well.

Terrible 2's and even though I didn't do them very well (not yet able to push to sharp pain level) they were still terrible...I should do them more often.

PUSH UP DAYS 414 & 415

355 Push ups

  • Streak extender + 15

Stepping down from a high volume effort previous week I hoped this would feel relatively easy...it did at first, but when finished I recognized a toenail issue that caused pain the rest of the day and I was overall wiped out -- hope to recover quickly as I'm already worried about this weekends long run of 16 miles.

Cumulative total:   38,122

Running:

  • 0550 start
  • 5.94 miles
  • 8:25/mi. pace

Intended to run hills, but as it turns out the specific hill I was thinking of repeating was far enough away that I only ran it once...I did find some other hills by taking an alternate route home, but kind of a failure in executing my game plan.  Related, I found out yesterday that the plan I have been semi-following only has one 20 mile run scheduled prior to the marathon....this is concerning as it doesn't seem enough to me, but well, it also doesn't look like I'll have enough time to adjust it in any significant way, so I guess I'm on course to see just how bad it hurts to attempt a marathon ill prepared.

Have strayed a bit from my routine, but maybe I'll settle back in if I ever stop doing the most fun things in the world:   Vacationing with the family, going to The Masters, going to Auburn's A-day game, etc.

Running:
4 runs during the past 7 days with following details:

  • 5.8 miles @ 9:09/mi pace
  • 6.7 miles @ 9:01/mi pace
  • 14.4 miles @ 8:34/mi pace
  • 4.5 miles @ 8:11/mi pace

The long run hammered me to the point that I had shortness of breath for the next 3 days and I'm already worried about my next long run which I intend to tackle this weekend...on a positive note, I signed up for the 6/11/16 marathon and am looking forward to it, as ill advised as that seems physically.

  • Streak extender + 15

We went on Spring Break vacation to Arkansas starting Thursday of last week and returned Tuesday of this week -- the Central West and North West of AR, where we were, exceeded our expectations at every turn.  An amazingly beautiful area that is extremely underrated as an adventure wonderland.   Only wish we had been able to stay a few more days.   Oh and YES, the streak extended beyond 391 days, so a new blogged about streak record for me.  I'd pat myself on the back if I hadn't read earlier today that the Iran Hostage Crisis lasted for 444 days....geez.

Cumulative total:    36,247

Running:

Ran once during vacation.  Once.  I am pathetic and way undertrained for a marathon I'm about to sign up for in June.  Truly not sure if doing the marathon is even a good idea for me, but the company will be GREAT (The Rosenlof's) and that's always a better reason than the running part anyway.

Saturday I ran for 45 minutes and 34 seconds towards Jessieville from the RV park associated with this website:  http://colemanquartz.com/   I saw deer on the run and overall felt good about myself for 45 minutes, the rest of the trip was so over packed with various adventures neither Becca nor I got in any other planned exercise.   A somewhat shocking fact considering that even if it was assumed I did nothing it would be very rare.   Anyway, great trip, now have to get back on the training schedule...er...yeah, make one up to follow at least.

PUSH UP DAY 389

355 Push ups

  • Sets of:  25, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 35, 25, 30

Cumulative total:   35,452

Pretty pleased with today's effort considering that I was cycling the above push ups with pull ups and lunges...in 1 hour I completed 235 push ups, 99 pull ups and 250 lunges plus did 7 sets of ab rollers.   I think 300, 110, 300 seems like a reasonable next goal, leaving off the winding ab stuff.   Perhaps I'll try that in a month or so.   Also need to get back on the planking as I haven't done any in quite a while.

PUSH UP DAY 388

35 Push ups

  • Streak extender +10

Cumulative total:    35,097

NOTE:   Approaching a new blogged about streak record...the 2k everyday running lasted 391 days....hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Running:

  • 4.62 miles
  • 0615
  • 8:17/mi. pace

I think my minor health concerns over the weekend were allergy related.   They continue, but thinking they're allergy related rather than virus related makes it easier for me to get out the door for a run...I took it easy on the first half of this run and then picked it up a bit to return home.   Still not happy or comfortable about the fact that I missed a long run over the weekend, but I'll get over that.

  • 10.77 miles
  • 0710
  • 8:38/mi
Dang Daylight Savings jacked up our whole morning, I was supposed to run before Becca went for an 8am bike ride, but I had 10 miles on the schedule and realized after waking up that it was 6:30, not 5:30 as my watch/alarm indicated, which meant I didn't have enough time to run 10 miles and be home by 7:30...yeah, I need to get faster.  A lot.   Another reason to miss Arizona too.  Becca actually decided to do other exercise, so I could have started at 6:30 anyway, but that was hard to do when not talking to Becca until 7.   Anyway this was my longest run in 2-3 years, so I guess I should be happy about that...and I felt pretty good.  I actually think Becca's watch gipped me of some mileage as I ran the alleged 10 minute mile section harder than many of the other miles -- I think it missed many of my sharp turns, oh well, we'll just assume it was a 31 mile effort at 5 minutes per mile then.   Here is part of the route I took, it's on Becca's Strava if greater level of detail is desired:

I was quite proud of myself...you may never guess that I failed handwriting in the 4th grade, but then, they never said I could write with my feet.

I believe I nearly worried myself sick....Case was throwing up yesterday, which concerned me so greatly that I was worried all day and woke up worried I too may catch it.  Not as sympathetic as a Father should come across I guess, but while I truly want him to get better and would do most anything to facilitate that, I might draw the line at sharing the illness with him....as long as it's not too serious.  Anyway, I took it easy on my run, which was rather nice, perhaps I should always run easy?   I intend to for the next few days anyway, but that's mostly for fear of not being properly trained to run 3 days in a row, which I plan to do because that's what's on my not yet written up self created training schedule -- Becca gets Monday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings, I get Tuesday and Friday mornings...we both have lofty goals to share the weekend days.

Related, literally, Finn is on the opposite end with relation to Case's illness....he wants so badly to be just like his brother that he insisted on getting in on the game despite no symptoms.   See Becca's sick ward below:

On the great news side, Case woke up feeling well today and miraculously so did Finny!

First 5k race for me in possibly 10 years?  Not much for intense pain I guess...anyway, this was Case's first ever 5k and he did very well....on no training he only took two short walk breaks totaling maybe one tenth of a mile combined and finished 3rd in his 0-9 age group, winning a 12 oz. glass, which made him quite happy.   Finn sat in the stroller for the 5k saving his legs for the 1200 meter "fun run," which he ran with his Mother...managed a solid hard run throughout and was the big winner regardless of any other related facts, they gave him a "Winner" ribbon and that was more than enough, but to be safe the event organizers had a giant banana split for everyone afterwards.

  • 8.77 Miles
  • 0500

Longest run for me in over 2 years, wasn't as miserable as I feared.

PUSH UP DAY 366 & 367

50 Push ups

  • Back to back streak extenders, yesterday and today.

Just felt like letting the left shoulder heal one more day even though it doesn't feel that bad.   I did start a marathon training plan today, so I felt that was enough mental focus for this morning anyway.   Yes, I'll go ahead and bore you with running details now as well, but in an effort to maintain formatting I'll do so beneath the "Cumulative total" line following this paragraph and future posts:

Cumulative total:    31,825    [an additional note on this figure...since mid-summer last year I decided it was best to add 1 extra rep to every set just to make certain my cumulative total figure was an "at least" figure...yes, that is fairly weak on the accuracy scale, but it makes me feel better, so I thought I'd pass that along to my 5-ish readers....of which I only know for certain 2 identities -- maybe there is a way to see who is auto receiving?  Anyway, until I see comments I'll be content to just know the two, who I consider my 2 favorites naturally.]

RUNNING DAY 1 (not a streak!) of marathon plan culminating with a June 11 marathon if all goes well enough:

5.78 miles
  • 8:21/mi. pace
  • 0610
  • Houston, TX (near Memorial Park, but not in the park)
  • Training plan called for a Fartlek and or hills....no hills visible so I did some terrible 2's, but didn't make them that terrible.
NOTE:   I will attach my training plan once I transcribe it onto a calendar, just as FYI.

PUSH UP DAYS 364 and 365

205 Push ups

  • Saturday:   55 in 2 sets, 30 and 25
  • Sunday:     150 in 6 sets of 25 reps

Cumulative total:   31,775

Comments after extending the streak to 365 days:
  1. Much easier to maintain this streak than a running streak, but I think I was healthier through the push up streak...though my left shoulder started bothering me in the SLC airport 6 days ago, which I think just reconfirms how exhausted I was from skiing as I believe now that I must have slightly altered form and perhaps injurer myself in a minor way?
  2. Push ups did get easier through the year, though never exactly easy...guess I'll have to continue to pursue my goal of making them as minimally taxing as taking a walk, high volume should do that right?   Right?
  3. Averaging 87 per day for 1 year is pleasing to me, though now I want to average 113 for an additional 365 days so I can have an overall average of 100 per day...
  4. I really need to try a max set again as I haven't in a very long time.
  5. I think I only almost forgot to do at least a streak extender set a few times actually and can only remember having to get up out of bed before midnight to extend the streak once.
  6. The push up is a great overall exercise, elaborating a bit more on comment #1 above -- I'm in better shape than I would've expected and the very small volume required to continue the streak kept exercise on my mind making for nice easy returns to interest in fitness each time motivation took time off for a while, lazy sap that it is.
  7. I should keep a count of number of different places I do push ups as I think that # from the past 365 days would be fairly large, but yeah, I probably won't do that.
  8. Kinda proud of myself for ending 365 days on Feb. 28 having started the streak on March 1...this means I don't need NEL to find a missed day anywhere, though I was comforted knowing that she could have.

PUSH UP DAYS 361 and 362

309 Push ups

  • Streak extender
  • 284 push ups via following sets:   27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 34, 34

Had to take a second streak extender day in a row yesterday as my struggle to recover from 2 days of skiing continues.   Taking this week easy as I try to get fired up for a decision Sunday, to train for a marathon or not...the answer is that I'm going to, but I have some work to do to get my mind right by Sunday so I can start in earnest on Monday.

PUSH UP DAY 360

30 Push ups

  • Streak extender +5

Still suffering from ski days hangover, actually surprised at how exhausted I am, must do some plyometrics type stuff leading up to next ski trip, whenever that may be.

Changing gears, considering marathon training again.   May target this marathon: http://www.xterraatlantic.com/big-elk.html but that only allows 15 week build up and taper, which may be pushing it considering my current mileage...15-20 miles per week maybe?   15 weeks means starting next week as this week it appears I will need to focus on recovery.   Prior to my ski trip 15 weeks would have seemed like enough time, but I'm feeling quite old today -- I wish I had taken a picture of my face yesterday morning, it made me think of this:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-kIxa0fDM0

PUSH UP DAYS 356-359

551 Push ups

  • Friday:    207 total in following sets/locations:
    • 30, 30, 30, 30 at Home
    • 30.   Office
    • 27.  MOB (Mobile Regional Airport)
    • 30.   DFW (Dallas Fort Worth airport)
  • Saturday:    Streak extender +5
  • Sunday:      Streak extender...
    • then 16 more because I wanted to see what they'd feel like in ski boots
  • Monday:   272 total in following sets/locations:
    • 30, 30 hotel
    • SLC.   30, 31
    • DFW.   33, 31, 30, 31
    • MOB.  27

Skied Saturday and Sunday https://www.snowbasin.com/, which revealed that I am not as young nor fit as I once was, I still love skiing and I need to do more lower back exercises.   Perfect conditions and push-ups while in a ski rental boot fitting area would be a fun new type location to keep track of and add to, though sadly not likely to be updated often.

PUSH UP DAY 354

251 Push ups

  • Sets of 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 35

Felt winded today for the first time in a while...may be recent running, may be too much other exercise stuff, who knows, maybe it was the golf on Monday, concern is that it could be all of those resulting in being over trained, which is generally horrible.   I hope that isn't the case as I'm very much looking forward to high altitude exercise in the form of skiing this weekend.

PUSH UP DAYS 350-353

409 Push ups

  • 325 Push ups in these sets:  25, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 30
  • Streak extender +5

Also ran between 4-6 miles three of the above 4 days....unfortunately I have not added any pull ups since Friday due to my travel.   I actually brought my door frame pull up bar with me since I am traveling this week via car, but haven't found a doorway in the hotel that is even close to regular.   Very strange.

364 Push ups

  • Sets of:    25, 27, 30, 37, 30, 37, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 28

Attempt #2 at the self created 300/100 challenge within 1 hour.   Goal accomplished:  339/108  Started with pull ups this time, which I think made the difference...and I paid attention to rest periods making sure they weren't excessive.

PUSH UP DAY 348

55 Push ups

Ran 4.5 miles and did some ab roller work as well...8 days until ski trip.

323 Push ups

  • Sets of:   30, 30, 25, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 27, 31, 30,

Also ran 5 miles today plus did some pull ups and such...end of next week I go snow skiing so hopefully some of the exercising has or will make me durable enough to survive such an adventure at my advancing age.

PUSH UP DAYS 343-345

307 Push ups

  • Saturday:    Streak extender +5
  • Sunday:      Streak extender
  • Monday:     252 in sets of...27, 27, 27, 8, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 28

Failed to run over the weekend, which is pretty weak, but maybe not as weak as my excuse -- that Becca made me stay out late going to a Mardi Gras ball.   I'll admit that the ball was fun, but I'll also reiterate that I hate to an extreme level feeling tired in my head.   I have read articles and one book that claimed you could train yourself to require less sleep.   The idea is very intriguing to me, but I am afraid to try it because I'm just not ready to believe in the concept...seems like a road to either long term health problems or a quick way to simply lower ones expectations with relation to what is considered feeling good.

350 Push ups

  • Sets of:   35, 35, 35, 35, 35, 30, 30, 30, 30, 25, 30

Decided I would try to do 300 push ups and 100 pull ups in one hour, which seemed doable without being too devastating...well, I fell a few pull ups short and blame it on poor time management along with lack of self need to overcome that poor time management.  I came close enough (accomplishing the push ups and then doing 97 pull ups within allotted time) that I know it is doable, perhaps next time I try.

PUSH UP DAY 341

35 Push ups

  • Streak extender plus 10 later the same morning

Streak extender 25 reps was enough, but then I waited too long before getting in the shower, so needed 10 more in fast succession to try to warm up...unrelated, Case was born at 0341 AZ time a few months over 8 years ago.

Ran Sunday and today, pulling out of what I think may have been a sinus infection?   Started drinking a warm water/lemon juice/honey concoction because no one is more likely to commit to some odd elixir than I am.

PUSH UP DAY 335

40 Push ups

  • 30 and then 10

I did more push ups than usual on a streak extender kind of day because I needed to warm up a little bit before showering...I haven't decided if that's cheating yet or not, but since my cold swimming event is more than a year and a half way I have decided not to worry about doing that occasionally.

  • Day 331:  38
  • Day 332:  275 in sets of 30x8 and then a set of 25
  • Day 333:  51

I'm not sick, but I'm not well...have taken a few days off running, which makes it sounds like I was actually running a lot even though I wasn't.   Hopefully I'll be 100% soon and resume high-ish volume average through remainder of my first 365 days.   Happy to report that I haven't let cold symptoms impact my on-going cold showering experiment.

PUSH UP DAY 326

237 Push ups

  • Sets of: 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 27, 1

Worked arms today, so most sets were done with narrow hands and elbows/arms against body during reps so as to focus on triceps exhaustion.   Alternated with curls and such.   Also ran 5 miles and did a few sets of lunges, but most proud of the fact that I started before 5am, which oddly I have had difficulty making myself do in recent months.

PUSH UP DAY 325

30 Push ups

  • Streak extender +5

Also did some minor planking, some ab rollering plus some hand standing...not much suffering today, except the post exercise clean up routine, which if I really wanted to suffer would be done well after cooling down, but for now I haven't made a practice of waking up early enough to allow for that.

295 Push ups

  • Streak extender
  • Streak extender
  • 245 in following sets:   25, 25, 25, 35, 30, 35, 35, 35

Also ran twice and did some lunges and pull ups...left shoulder is bothering me slightly, which I think may have to do with my dead hang pull ups.   Stopping short of a dead hang would be logical way to test to determine, but I like knowing that I have done them that way, so for now I'm hoping I'll just get used to it.   Oh, one other thing I realized....I was completely wrong about staying under the cold water throughout the shower being easier....well, it may be in some ways, but it results in a much longer time to warm up post shower, which while semi-miserable, is probably best if I truly intend to use it as training for the Rockman event recently touted on this blog.

  • Streak extender +10
  • 340 push ups in set of following reps:   30, 50, 30, 40, 30, 35, 40, 30, 30, 25

Yesterday I made another attempt at the dolphin plank resulting in a 5 minute effort.  Shoulders were first to feel discomfort to the point of deciding to stop, I think that has to do with the previous days push ups, but no excuses just need to mentally decide to endure the discomfort for longer next time.   Ran yesterday too, on pretty consistent exercise block right now, which I need to continue if I intend to keep thinking about the Rockman event as much I have been.

PUSH UP DAY 319

324 Push ups

  • Sets of:  31, 41, 41, 30, 45, 45, 35, 31, 40, 30

I did some lunges, pull ups, shoulder and arm exercising as well as the ab roller thing this morning as well, but failed to run as I had intended to....likelihood that I'll run after work is estimated to be 8% chance.

Also ran twice during the above listed days and did a bunch of lunges and some pull ups etc.   This motivated me...

Yes, I want to do it...and based on how much I have thought of it over the past few days I think I want to do it as a life priority!   Perhaps that has to do with the fact that a fantastic friend and insane (in a good way) endurance enthusiast sent me the link and I'd love to do it with him, but also because it seems to fit better than other semi-extreme events do....other than the thousands of miles away, high expense, how in the world would I train for it parts I guess.   Anyway, we'll see, I've had other ideas over the years as well and my percentage on following through is, well, weak would be an understatement.   Hope to ride the enthusiasm for a while regardless.

To tell you the truth, when realizing I was putting in pretty high volume over the weekend I thought to myself:  "Yes, this should get me over 80/day average."   Siiiigh.

Failed to get out of bed in time to run this morning, intend to run after work, but I usually do not exercise after work no matter how great my intentions may be...not sure why I am not bouncing out of bed when my alarm goes off, but I'm not.   Might need to sign up for some event to get me motivated?

Have restarted running I guess...I ran 1 mile Friday morning, 2 miles with Case on Saturday, .75 of a mile with him yesterday and this morning ran 3 miles on my own.   Gracious, that's a streak!  No, not starting a new one, though I have made quite a list of New Years Resolutions which include goals related to push ups, running, walking on hands etc.

  • New Yeas Day--    Streak extender

Today I will be listing my New Year's resolutions...I keep most of them to myself and like I guess most people do I fail to accomplish most of them, but Becca and I have enjoyed listing them each year for as long as we've been married (11 years and counting).  On this blog I will likely reference some of my goals related to exercising and so forth, but not things like "take a fiber gummy every day so that I don't have freakin hemorrhoid issues!"   To that end, check out this fantastic retro exercise device my sister gave me for Christmas because this is the kinda stuff we give to each other -- I am seriously pumped about it and intend to use it regularly to see what kind of affect it has on my core strength and or any other benefits I can derive from it:
